Buster Bennett was born March 14, 1914 in Pensacola, FL and died July 3, 1980 in Houston, TX. He arrived in Chicago in the early 1920s, and was an alto sax player in the New Orleans style, but he was a bluesman through and through in the Jump Blues style. He actively recorded and appeared on more than two dozen recordings between 1938 and 1947. He recorded and collaborated with a number of musicians including Big Bill Broonzy, Washboard Sam, Jimmy Gordon, Yas Yas Girl, and Monkey Joe. His professional career ended in 1950.
