Bullmark

Effective period / Period of releases: 1997

Members: Dave Shul, Tom Coster, Arion Salazar, Bryan Mantia

A funk session band that formed to produce an original soundtrack to the 3D video game Interstate '76.

The Interstate '76 soundtrack was composed by Arion Salazar who would later achieve fame as a founding member of Third Eye Blind. The music was performed under the name "Bullmark" with Salazar on bass, Santana-alumni Tom Coster on keyboards and Bryan "Brain" Mantia (Primus, Guns 'N' Roses) on drums. David Shul (Spearhead) was on guitar, Les Harris played horns. Additionally, there were some other session musicians involved.

The soundtrack recreated the funk sound of 70's film and television theme music by using vintage instruments and recording technology in order to as closely reproduce this sound as possible. The band recorded at Royaltone Studios in Los Angeles, purely on reel-to-reel tape for added authenticity.
