He studied at the university for Music in Belgrade for five years. In 1947 he founded Jazz Orkestar Radio-Televizije Beograd, which he conducted 'till 1953. He moved to Germany where he played for US-soldiers. This brought him into contact with Benny Goodman for whom he did some arrangements. He started to work for German boardcasting organisations like SDR, HR and NDR. He leaded some studio orchestras and came to work with Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and Egberto Gismonti. Since 1986 he teached at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. In 1988 he retired from active musical life.
