Kenneth Roane

Real name: Kenneth A. Roane

Jazz trumpeter and arranger, born c. 1902 in Hartford, CT, died March 3, 1984 in New York.
Roane moved to New York in 1923, worked with Jelly Roll Morton, Cecil Scott, recorded with Lloyd Scott (2) in 1927 and Fess Williams in 1927 and 1929. He led own band in the 1930s. In 1939 he recorded a selection of Creole and Haitian tunes in a quintet called Haitian Orchestra. In the 1940s played with Cecil Scott, Louis Jordan, Fats Waller and others. He continued working and teaching until his death; for many years also an official of the AFM.
