Great Cold Emptiness is a Black Metal band which shares members between Canada and the United States. It was founded in 2014 by Nathan Guerrette and released two EPs before going on hiatus in 2015. In 2018, Great Cold Emptiness returned with its debut album 'Miles Before I Sleep' focusing on religious and philosophical themes and added Meghan Wood from Crown of Asteria as a primary vocalist. 'Miles Before I Sleep' was followed up by 2020's 'Death Gifted a Bouquet' in which electronic dance elements were introduced. In 2023 after writing with Preston Lobzun of Rampancy/Anti-Freeze, Great Cold Emptiness released 'Immaculate Hearts Will Triumph' ending a trilogy of albums entitled "Becoming A Man".

Their sound is described as "cinematic" with elements of funeral doom, EDM, blackgaze, and other styles. Lyrically, Great Cold Emptiness is themed around Guerrette's Acadian heritage and explores romance, homesteading, and coming of age stories.
