Jennifer Ward Clarke

Born: 20th June 1935 Yateley, Hampshire, England
Died: 1st March 2015
British baroque and classical cellist. After an early career in contemporary music, she later specialised in baroque music and performances on period instruments.
She studied at the Royal College of Music, London and subsequently at the Conservatoire National Supérieur De Musique Et De Danse De Paris.
She played for a period with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Otto Klemperer. Founder member of The Pierrot Players in 1967 and its successor the Fires Of London, The Music Party in 1972, The Academy Of Ancient Music in 1973 and The Salomon Quartet in 1981. Joined the London Sinfonietta at it's inception in 1968. That same year, she played in The Steinitz Bach Players. She later played with The Monteverdi Orchestra, the London Classical Players and the Orchestra Of The Age Of Enlightenment.
From the 1980s she was professor of baroque cello at the Royal Academy Of Music.
