Henri Ormières
Following studies at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux with Francis Chapelet (organ), Henri Ormières continued his studies in Paris with Patrice Holiner (piano) and Blandine Verlet (harpsichord). At the same time, he studied composition with Yvonne Desportes, and benefited from the advice of the organist François-Henri Houbart. Henri Ormières is titular organist of Saint-Vincent Church in Carcassonne and Director of the Chœur Saint-Louis. He founded the organ festival “Les Vents d'Ange” (‘The Breezes of Angels’) in Carcassonne. He regularly appears in concert as a recitalist in Europe, USA and Canada, in a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to modern music. Solo appearances with orchestras have included concertos by Bach, Händel, Haydn, Poulenc, Guilmant, Rheinberger and Saint-Saëns Symphony no.3. He has recorded an acclaimed CD of music for 4 hands on the famous ‘Sonnenorgel’ of Görlitz (Germany) with fellow-organist Reinhard Seeliger.
