Mombo Hernandez
Real name: Sam “Mombo” Hernandez
Mombo began hand drumming in the early 1970s on his mother's ironing board. Studying, learning, and listening to other percussionists, Mombo arrived with his own style. Playing all styles of music, he kept being drawn to contemporary jazz. Finally hooking up with vocalist Slim Man in the 1990s, broke Mombo into the Jazz scene. Affording him the opportunity to perform with Peter White, Steve Oliver, Lou Rawls, Michael Paulo, Freddie Ravel, Marc Antoine, Greg Vail, Tony Windle, and many others.
