Oscar, Golden Globe and two-time Grammy winning American singer, songwriter, actress and producer, born in New York City, NY March 18, 1959, died Nov 25, 2022 in Largo, Florida. Born and raised in the South Bronx of Puerto-Rican and Cuban-American ancestry, she began singing and dancing on local Spanish TV at age 7. Cara was a trained singer, actor and dancer who made many stage and television appearances as a child, including on PBS and on Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show. She is best known for two movie themes she wrote and performed, "Fame (The Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture)" and the Academy Award-winning "Flashdance ... What A Feeling".
