Nikolai Kostomarov (May 4, 1817, Yurasovka, Voronezh province - April 7, 1885, St. Petersburg) - Russian historian, publicist, writer, teacher and public figure, corresponding member of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, full state councilor. Author of the multivolume edition "Russian history in the biographies of its main figures", a researcher of the socio-political and economic history of Russia. One of the leaders of the Cyril and Methodius Brotherhood.
