Legally adopted the Gaelic form of his birth name in the late-70s. Also known by the nicknames Aonghas dubh or Black Angus. Married to Gerda Stevenson.
He was also a broadcaster, journalist, scriptwriter, librettist, and translator. A native Gael, he wrote in Gaelic and English. His collections of poetry have been published in both languages, and his writing has appeared in literary journals all over the world.
