A Gospel and Soul singer. Daughter of famed Detroit Gospel singer, Hulah Gene. She and her mother, recorded a number of singles and LPs for Savoy Records. She also performed and recorded alongside the Rev. James Cleveland. Carolyne as ventured into the world of soul and released a few secular singles under the name Carolyne Gene.
