American jazz and pop songwriter and vocalist, born in Iowa, raised in Minnesota, and Hollywood, California. She started her career in the mid-1930s, and retired from the music business in the late 1970s.She is the younger sister of actress and singer Ann Sothern. She was married four times: to bandleader Jack Jenney (1940–1945), radio and television director Hugh Murray (1946–1950), bandleader Russ Case (1952–1956), and public relations man John J. Dickman (1960–1961).
