Semblanzas del Río Guapi is a traditional marimba ensamble from Guapi, a town in the Colombian Pacific coast. Led by the Cortez sisters, this group of musicians and researchers have inherited and been trained through their love and curiosity for their cultural roots. Not only are they one of the most promising music ensambles from the Pacific coast, but they have also undertaken the task of sharing and teaching their traditions to younger generations in their Fundación Semblanzas which runs amidst the tough sociopolitical conditions of their surroundings.
