Real name: Simon Peter Steele

Simon Peter Steele (1891-1985) A Kentucky banjo player, known to have spent nearly 20 years working in the Harlan County coal mines. A large influence on the banjo style of Pete Seeger, best remembered for two pieces, "Coal Creek March" and "Last Payday at Coal Creek," His recording of the Coal Creek March banjo instrumental is now a part of the Library of Congress.
