American pianist, bandleader and composer.

Born : February 11, 1882 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Died : September 11, 1971 in Tacoma, Washington State.

Among his compositions to remember : "Lovie Joe", "Salome's Dance", "That Teasin' Rag", "Dat's Ma Honey Sho's Yo' Bom", "Oh Say Wouldn't It Be A Dream", "Brother-in-Law Dan".
In 1928 he led a band formed among others by : Jabbo Smith, Garvin Bushell, James P. Johnson, Thomas "Fats" Waller.
Played also fiddle and percussion.
