Graeme Elston, Andrew McKechnie, Alex English and Rich Deighton came together in late 1990 in Liverpool, initially under the name Love Parade. Following several gigs in early 1991 the band changed names that Autumn, following the release by Graeme of the single Aspidistra/Me and the Almost Beautiful Girl on the Sugarfrost label as Pure. The band line up of Pure recorded two songs for Anglo-Japanese compilation The Birth of the True in December 1991, and toured Japan to support the album in April 1992. The 5 song 'Eva Luna' EP was later released in Japan, but a Canadian band claimed rights to the name Pure, forcing the band to adopt Eva Luna instead. Following a serious car accident Rich left the band. Eva Luna released two singles as a 3 piece - Tangle and Kick Out - but Alex and Andrew left the band in Autumn 1993. Following a chamber pop direction Graeme released two further EP's - Loverstay and Ghost Of You - in 1994, toured Japan acoustically, and recorded a Peel Session. The Pistachio EP was recorded, but not released, in 1995 and Eva Luna were no more.
