American jazz percussionist, producer, and engineer.(do not confuse with jazz drummer from NYC, Steve Reid (2).)
Born: 6 January 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.
Reid begun releasing material in 1987, scoring his greatest success yet as a co-founder of the enormously popular contemporary jazz group The Rippingtons, also crossing over to pop audiences as a member of Supertramp.
Named as Jazziz magazine's Percussionist Of The Year in both 1993 and 1995, in between issuing his solo debut, the worldbeat-influenced "Bamboo Forest" (1994), then the follow-up "Water Sign" (1996).
Subsequent efforts included "Mysteries" (1997) as Steve Reid's Bamboo Forest, "Passion In Paradise" (1999), and finally "Dream Scapes" (2001).
