Tony Worsley

Real name: Anthony Asheen Worsley

Effective period / Period of releases: 1965 - 1966

Born: December 25, 1945 (sometimes listed as 1944), Hastings, Sussex, England and migrated to Brisbane, Australia with his family when he was 15., He began singing shortly after. Pop entrepreneur Ivan Dayman teamed Melbourne instrumental band The Blue Jays with Tony Worsley at the start of 1964, and with their name enhanced by the suitably glamorous prefix Fabulous the group with Tony's powerful stage presence immediately set about creating a dynamic stage show. They were popular and supported many acts of the day, as well as many touring acts from overseas, but split in 1966 with Tony going solo. A "New" Blue Jays was formed to back him and which included such future Australian rock luminaries as Vince Maloney (ex-Aztec and future Bee Gee), John A. Bird (Country Radio) and Phil Manning (Chain). Unfortunately the label he was on, Sunshine, collapsed. His career carried on though his partying and excesses made him unreliable and he gradually moved out of the music field.
