A one-man band who rocks like a slicker Beck, quirky Canadian and former Queen City Kids member Bag (Alex Chuaqui) was the first act signed to Gene Simmons' label Simmons Records when the label was revived in 2005. Having received a demo from a friend, Simmons originally contacted Chuaqui for his songwriting and production skills.

Chuaqui, for the first time using the pseudonym BAG. worked on four tracks for Simmons' 2004 album ***hole. Simmons returned the favor by co-writing a track for Bag's self-titled debut, which appeared in the summer of 2005. In 2005 he had the name BAG protected as a trademark.
