Real name: Christian Lanckvrind

Fernand Ball was an artistic alias adopted by Christian Lanckvrind, a friend of Belgian cartoonists and comic book authors Thierry Culliford and Frédéric Jannin, for his appearances with New Wave/post-punk/synthpop band The Bowling Balls. Invented as a purely fictional "favorite group" of the main protagonists in Culliford and Jannin's comic strip "Germain and us…" published by Spirou magazine, the Bowling Balls ultimately became a real-life ensemble supposedly formed by four "Ball brothers."
