German composer
Bethmann Siegfried (* July 20, 1915, in Bornum, Anhalt,† November 6, 1993, Dessau). He studied music with Robert Teichmüller and Sigrid Grundeis in Leipzig, became assistant Teichmüller, whose "piano technique" he published in 1937/1950. From 1939 to 1945 he served in the Flying Music Corps in Halberstadt, conducted at the Städtischen Bühnen in Heidelberg in 1945/46 and came to Leipzig in 1947 as a composer and arranger of broadcasting. There he participated in the construction of leading wind orchestras of the GDR, wrote the music for thirty DEFA films and released compositions for wind band.
