Sumeet Anand Pandey is a 10th generational Dhrupad singer, a genre of Hindustani classical music that dates back to the 15th century and the most ancient form of Indian classical music still alive today. He had his chilhood training under his grandfather Shri Birendra Mohan Pandey, and occasional guidance from his maternal grandfather Padmashree Pandit Siyaram Tiwari, a master of the Darbhanga dhrupad gharana . After completing university education in Science and Management, he came under the tutelage of Abhay Narayan Mallick ( grandnephew and master disciple of Pandit Ram Chatur Mallick) who moulded Sumeet into a professionnal Dhrupadiya in the Darbhanga tradition.
