After the Split-Up of Die Ärzte, Bela B. founded S.U.M.P. in 1989 together with Atze Ludwig, Rod González & Michael Beckmann.
Rod González & Michael Beckmann could not appear with full name in the Credits of the EP S.U.M.P. - Get Wise, Get Ugly, Get Sump because they were still under contract with the Band Rainbirds until early 1990.
After releasing a EP & appearing on Various - Welcome To Rock 'N' Roll Hell, they changed their name in 1990 to Depp Jones.
The new name was found by Comic Fan Bela B. in the Lucky Luke Comic: Daltons im Blizzard (Les Dalton dans le blizzard/The Daltons in the Blizzard),
where Averell Dalton used that name while being undercover
