‎She inherited the predisposition to singing from her mother, Ida Viale,‎‎an operetta ‎‎singer, and from her grandmother, Merope Bavestrelli Bianchi, ‎‎opera singer.‎‎ From the latter she also inherits the middle name, which as a child she could not pronounce: so Magda becomes Meme for everyone.‎
