La Valse
Effective period / Period of releases: 2024
La Valse was a New Wave band from Breda, a city in the south of The Netherlands. Active from early 1984 until late 1985, the band performed live many times in local clubs and eventually recorded the single "Winter / Sorrow".In early 2017, band member Pol Doornekamp unveiled a selection of early La Valse cassette tapes including live performances, demos, rehearsals and studio recordings, all of which will eventually be published on Discogs. All cassette tapes have recently been restored and remastered with the goal to eventually release all tracks on a dedicated YouTube channel in the nearby future.
The band began with three members, which was also the formation in which they recorded the single:
Rob Musters (Bass)
Rob Slegt (Guitar, Lead Vocals)
Mik Hendrickx (Keyboards, Second Voice Vocals)
Later on, the fourth band member was added:
Pol Doornekamp (Vocals)
Rob Musters was mostly active as guitarist between 1977 and 1997. He played in the following bands: The Miranda's, Argh (New Wave) and of course La Valse. Most notably, Rob was a member of Four One And Only's, a band that was discovered by the world famous John Peel.
Rob Slegt also performed in the following bands: Poser, De Afstand and The Bop. Pol Doornekamp later joined the band Party Vultures and finally moved to the band called Never Mind The Neighbours.
