As a songwriter, under the names of Robert John Van Dyke, Bob Van Dyke, and Bobby Van Dyke, he has over 100 songs on the BMI registry, including co-writes with Doug Kershaw, and with Canadian songwriters Gilles Godard, Brian Way, Daryl Burgess, etc. A collaboration with Gilles Godard on the song "Life Is Just A Holiday", was recorded and released as a duet by Gilles Godard & Colleen Peterson.
