Vladimir (Vadim) Orloff (Orlov), cellist, teacher (born 26 May 1928 in Odessa; died 1 April 2019); naturalized Canadian 1977; first prize (Bucharest Cons) 1947.
Vladimir Orloff took his first lessons with his father, a cello teacher, and then studied in Romania at the Bucharest Cons, making his debut with the Bucharest Philharmonic in 1947. In 1953 he won first prize in the Bucharest International Competition and was designated a state soloist.
Orloff emigrated to Canada in 1971 to become principal cello teacher at the University of Toronto.
