Mario Patrón, musician, arranger, composer: Born October 25, 1935. Mazatlán, Sin. Mexico; Died December 21, 1981, Mexico City, Mexico.
He was a versatile Mexican musician. He played various breath instruments, percussion, and double bass. Very young he started in music, performing in dance orchestras, in Mexico City. Later he dabbled in jazz and toured the United States, where he accompanied Louis Armstrong and Tom Jones at the Newport festivals as a pianist. Back in Mexico he formed his own orchestra, with which he toured throughout the Republic. Around 1957 he introduced rock and roll to Mexico with his wife Gloria Rios. Their son Mario Patrón has excelled as a jazz pianist.
