Monique Brandily (Paris Oct. 24 1921 - Paris Aug. 26 2022) has a doctorate in ethnomusicology, and is a former researcher at the Ethnomusicology Laboratory (Musée de l'Homme, Paris). She has made numerous field missions in Africa, since 1961, in the Sahel and the central Sahara (Chad, Libya), but also in the Sudanian zone (southern Chad). Lecturer at the University of Paris X - Nanterre, she taught there general ethnomusicology and the ethnology of African music.
