Property Of...

Members: Catherine Ryecroft, Louise Alderman, Martine Hilton, Lynne Howe, Antony Tabak

In Late 79.,Property Of..... was formed by Louise Alderman (keyboards), the bass player with the Manchester Mekon and later Electra Complex, and Martine Hilton (Bass). She later joined Passage as a bass player and when she left joined Electra Complex as a Keyboard player.
They were much encouraged by other musicians from the collective who came round to the Burton rd flat where they all rehearsed. Tony Friel ( Fall, Passage ) gave the band their first song (Dance Like your dead ) as a gift to start them off. Lyn Howe (vocals) joined shortly after and were then joined by Cath Carroll (guitar) later of Glass Animals, Miaow, City fun and the NME. She played with the band using the name Cath Ryecroft (her fathers surname) which she later stopped using. Property Of ...did their first gig at Band on the Wall for the Manchester Musicians Collective. They had found a vocalist but were looking for a drummer and guitarist, (several Musician Collective flyers have small adverts at the bottom). They found Cath Ryecroft just days before they recorded the track for the Musicians Collective LP, but could not find a female Drummer and continued to use Antony Tabak.
