Real name: Hermanus Rodolphus Maria Ruijsenaars

Swedish cellist, born on June 6, 1945 in Holland, near Haarlem.

He studied the cello with Maurice Gendron from 1964-67. His career as a soloist has brought him to most European countries, to the USA, the former Soviet Union and the Far East, performing under the batons of such distinguished maestri as Antal Dorati, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Neeme Järvi, Hans Vonk and Gennadi Rozhdestvensky. His repertoire includes more than thirty cello concertos.
 As a chamber musician he played as extra cellist with the Alban Berg and Orlando String Quartets, Nash Ensemble, Archi Budelli, and in duos and trios with pianists Ronald Brautigam, Roland Pöntinen, Viktoria Postnikova and Rian de Waal, violinists Janine Jansen, Victor Liberman and Jaap van Zweden, violist Nobuko Imai and cellist Anner Bijlsma.

He is combining his teaching in Gothenburg, his home city, with a Guest Professorship at the Hague Royal Conservatoire. Recently he has given masterclasses and recitals in Shanghai and Beijing, and he is a regular participant in the Dutch festivals in Groningen (Peter the Great Festival), Zutphen (International Cello Festival) and Amsterdam (Cello Biennale: masterclasses, performances and as a jury member).
