Died December 17, 1969 in Santo Tomé, Corrientes, Argentina.

María Kalasakis, known by her stage name María Helena, was an Argentine folk singer.
She was discovered by television producer and hosted Roberto Galán while she was singing on a school act and who invited her to perfom on his TV show "Remates Musicales". After that, he took her to the Julio Korn Editorial, and from there they presented her on Argentine CBS label where she met producer Hernán Figueroa Reyes. They made her record a tape and a month later, in June 1965, she was already on the street with her first single with the songs Ribereña and Canto Islero, while she began her presentations on Radio El Mundo. The CBS label hired her to record her first album.
