Specialist choir, part of Birmingham-based group which also comprises a vocal consort, a period-instrument orchestra and an education programme. It was founded in 1969 by Jeffrey Skidmore and is still directed by him.
‘Cathedra’ is the name for the bishop’s throne, and the group's name was partially chosen as a pun because it literally means ‘from the throne’ or in English usage ‘with authority’.
