Swedish Metal Aid was a Swedish hard rock band formed in 1985 to record a single for the benefit of the starving in Ethiopia. About 80 Swedish hard rock musicians from 29 bands participated on the record, which sold 50,000 copies. The proceeds went entirely to aid efforts.Joey Tempest from the hard rock band Europe wrote the rock ballad "Give A Helpin' Hand", which was the A-side of the record. The B-side featured the autographs of all the lead singers. The lead singers were Joey Tempest (Europe), Robert Ernlund (Treat), Björn Lodin (Bedlam, Six Feet Under, Baltimoore), Malin Ekholm (Aphrodite), Tommy Nilsson (Horizont, Easy Action), and Joakim Lundholm (220 Volt). The music was performed by Easy Action and Treat.
