Karl Odlum briefly joined the team as producer and band member and Stevie Kavanagh joined a short time later around the the release of their second EP, "Conversations with Robots".

The last addition to the line-up was Graham Gilligan in late 2007, who replaced Mike O'Dowd, the band's previous drummer. In 2004 Alphastates released their debut album, "Made from Sand", which was very well received critically as were their robust live performances. The band have performed at a number of large festivals including Electric Picnic and Oxegen and have shared the stage with Sinead O' Connor, Cat Power, The Beta Band, Throwing Muses and Lali Puna.
