In the early '80s, John formed the band Glass which released an album and a few singles in 1983, on Houston Connection Recording Corporation. After Glass disbanded, John released one single from an unreleased album, and under the alias of "Jonnie Baby". He did some more productions for various artists and under other aliases. He briefly joined Club Nouveau, but never recorded with them. Around the late '80s, he started to release recordings as "Mikki Bleu". In the late '90s, he formed the Gospel-group "Tabernacle", including Dorian Williams.
