US soul funk group from New York. They were originally known as Mystic Merlin’s Magic Band and used to incorporate magic tricks into their live shows. They later dropped this gimmick and were taken seriously on the Soul and Dance scene.
Keith Gonzales was the primary lead vocalist. Starting in 1982, main vocals were occasionally provided by Freddie Jackson who went onto have a hugely successful solo career.

The Origin of Mystic Merlin
You didn't know about the magic, but not only is that an extra point in Mystic commercial favour,
But, it's the chief attraction of their stage show "Mulik" is the name of this game.

Keith Gonzales, lead vocalist and visual trickster of the realm,
claims that at this point. "We were visited telephatically by 'Merlin the Magician."

Sly Randolph told the same story
"We are the sons of Merlin, we were put on this earth to do his will.''

Jerry Anderson says, We try not to do "Shake your this'', "Push push" "Boogie down"
"Prices are always going up, you should give an audience something to see."'

We want to be able to have a family show, without blood and guts and sex, which mothers and
fathers can take their seven or eight year olds to, and have them say: "I like Mystic Merlin."
