Denzil "Dumpy" Rice (aka Denny Rice) was a Cincinnati-area piano player. He played as a session musician for many local and national recording artists, including Lonnie Mack, as well as releasing several singles under his own name (or various nicknames). He was a versatile musician, recording and performing live in rock, blues, country, rockabilly, R&B, and other genres. With Troy Seals he wrote the song "There’s a Honky-Tonk Angel (Who’ll Take Me Back In)", which was a hit for Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty.
