Mogens Wöldike

Danish conductor, choirmaster, organist, and scholar, born 5 July 1897 in Copenhagen, died 20 October 1988 in same place. Studied under Carl Nielsen and Thomas Laub and graduated from Copenhagen University in 1920. Founded Københavns Drengekor in 1924 and functioned as their choirmaster until 1955. Organist at Christiansborg Slotskirke from 1931 and at Vor Frue Kirke from 1959 to 1972. Founded Statsradiofoniens Kammerorkester in 1949. Received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 1976 as the first Dane ever.
