Hologram came about as a result of a split within the band Holocaust (4) in the early eighties. Guitarist John Mortimer retained the Holocaust name and Ed Dudley formed the band Hologram claiming with a sticker on the cover of their only album which stated that "Holocaust are now Hologram".
