Chicago-based rock band formed in 1986 as simply "The Veil" by bassist/vocalist Lorna Donley and guitarist/vocalist David Thomas, both former members of the art-punk band Da. The group played around Chicago and recorded some songs but split in 1989 after Donley and Thomas, who had been personally involved, split up. Prompted by a Da reunion in the 2000s, Donley and Thomas began working on tracks the band had recorded in 1988 but Donley's unexpected death in 2013 seemingly ended the project. Thomas ended up dumping the tapes at a local thrift store where they ended up being purchased by a music fan named Eric Clements, who started his own label, Dim Dim Dark Records, to issue an album by the band in 2021.
