Since the mid 1980s Sheffield-based Left Hand Right Hand have built a reputation as a powerful percussive-driven live act, performing throughout Europe and the US. Film projections have been a consistent feature of their work, with early performances, such as at London’s ICA and Third Eye Centre Glasgow (now CCA) in 1988, using discarded film and slides found in streets and skips, alongside Super 8 and 16mm film shot by the group. The two constant members of the ensemble brothers Andrew & Tim Brown have been joined by musicians and artists in a number of line-ups, including (in number of appearances) Karl Blake (Lemon Kittens, Shock Headed Peters), co-founder, Paul Ackerley (Zahgurim), Charlie Collins (Clock DVA, The Box), co-founder William Vince (Zahgurim) and Dave Knight. Studio recordings have featured celebrated musicians such as Lol Coxhill and George Haslam. Individually and collectively Left Hand Right Hand continue to be involved in a wide range of sound, music and film projects.
