Experimental Quartet was formed in November 1971, by students: Valentin Farcaș (guitars, vocals), Eugen Tunaru (piano, organ), Călin Coldea (bass guitar) and Dan Igrețiu (drums). In 1973, Călin Coldea left the group to form his band and was replaced by Nicolae Bucaciuc, after an interlude with Boldizsár István on bass and vocals. Also Dan Igrețiu left and Nicolae Delioran became the drummer. In 1973, their repertoire consisted of original compositions and belonged to the progressive jazz-rock genre.
