Biography

Comedy Harmonists
Effective period / Period of releases: 1977
Successor ensemble of the "Comedy Harmonists (2)", the so-called American Group (1947-1949).Note: Do not confuse with the English ANV "Comedy Harmonists" for the original "Comedian Harmonists" on British or Australian His Master's Voice releases.
After World War II Erich Collin from the Viennese Group of the Comedy Harmonists forms a new group in 1947 which tours multiple European countries as the "Comedian Harmonists" in 1948/49. He had permission from Cycowski and Frommermann to use the name. When the new group's Buffo dies unexpectedly while the group is on tour in Scandinavia, Collin asks Frommernann to join in as replacement, and Frommermann completes the rest of the tour with the ensemble. They make three records in Basel, Switzerland, in February 1949.
