"All the material was taken from the original analog sources. Aside from some slight mastering to keep the songs at an even volume, nothing was edited or polished. This collection includes a 12-page booklet with notes, era-related artwork, and never-before seen photos from a January 1998 session."
Tracks 1, 2, 3, 5 originally released as From Which Of This Oak demo cassette.
Recorded at Smegma Studio in late Autumn 1996. Released March 1997.
"While recording the guitar tracks, the first snow of 1996 began and continued for the next several hours of the session. We watched the gradual accumulation through the large studio windows as we played. Needless to say, it was inspirational."
Tracks 4, 5, 6 recorded for a 7" entitled "Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor".
Recorded at Smegma Studio, early Autumn 1998
Originally intended for release in Dec '98 on Iron Fist Prod.
Eventually released as Of Stone, Wind, And Pillor CD (The End, 2001) with bonus tracks.
"Although recorded much later, 'Of Stone...' was the first song to be written after the first demo. This being early 1997. It was originally going to be on "Pale Folklore" but we felt "Dead Winter Days" was conceptually much better suited for that album."
Tracks 7, 8 originally released as Promo 98 cassette.
Recorded in May 1998 at Soundtracks.
"These songs, together with 'Of Stone...', 'Haunting Birds', and another Breyer piece, would have appeared on a 2nd official demo had we not found a record deal by the end of 1998."
