Our sincerest gratitude to Benjamain Wright, Tyrone Williams and all the professional artists who contributed above and beyond their responsibilities to make "THE BALLAD OF DERRICK GORDON" and NEVER, EVER SAY DIE" a successful goal archived.

A story about a young man with an incurable heart disease...The death of his brother, Frederick, a few
months earlier, with the same disease and three other family members with identically affected hearts.
The plight of his family, who susbstided on public welfare... Annette Gordon, the mother, who stood at the
head of her family against trememdous odds and fought for their right to live...and Dr. Albert L. Fann.
Mental Scientist, Minister, Author and Actor, whose own heart was touched by the overwhelming needs of
the Gordon family, spearheaded the fund-raising drive which attracted thousands. All these elements add
up to the scenario which inspired "THE BALLAD OF DERRICK GORDON" As a result of being a welfare recipient, the
hospital had demanded from Annette one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars before Derrick could be examinated
and evaluated as a candidate for a heart transplant. Dr Fann, inspired by the family's courage and his own determination
to prove that "whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can archieve". en listed the aid of
his staff, students, clientele, friends and associates in his fund-rainsing efforts.
