A carefully laid out sonic array, Ossein Rind is Alex York's first full length. In addition to solo composing and performing, York is half of No Heat and owner of Torn Light Records in KY. While he brings out some of the minimal dirge of No Heat, Ossein Rind stands on its own as a well-realized walk. Sound sources from old records looped and re-looped create dizzying atmospheres while crumbling synthesizers provide hints of true mania. This is rooted deeply in the midwest US sound but the personal nature of these recordings and craft is also very apparent. Sink into the unsettling, nothing is to be ignored.60 copies
