The "whistle-like" tones heard at times above Jim's voice are not synthesized, nor are they whistles... They are naturally produced harmonic overtones that arise from the voice simultaneosuly. Thus he can harmonize with himself (and the rest of the music) in the moment.

All vocal tracks recorded at Paranoise Studio, Hartford, CT except Samui and Satari which were recorded live in the Dwelling Room 1999.
