En novembre 1919 – il a derrière lui l’essentiel de son œuvre – Franz Kafka rédige sa Lettre au Père. Elle ne parvint jamais à son destinataire : ce père trop réel, incarnant la force, la santé, l’appétit, le contentement de soi, qui ne pouvait comprendre le tempérament inquiet de son fils, encore moins son génie littéraire.Juillet 1920 : Franz Kafka écrit à Milena Jesenskà : « Je t’enverrai demain ma Lettre au Père. Garde-la bien, il se pourrait que je veuille tout de même la lui donner un jour… »
In November 1919 – he has most of his work behind him – Franz Kafka writes his Letter to the Father. It never reached its recipient: this too real father, embodying strength, health, appetite, self-satisfaction, who could not understand the restless temperament of his son, even less his literary genius.
July 1920: Franz Kafka writes to Milena Jesenskà: “Tomorrow I will send you my Letter to the Father. Keep it well, I might still want to give it to him one day…”
